Message to the past (or future)

Very strange now my form have left. Still seeing a few of them around the place, and some have ‘friended’* me on facebook, but in some cases I suspect I may only see them once or twice more before they go off.

All this year’s form tutor’s have been asked to write a piece for the yearbook, which I did happily (after three drafts) and post below for posterity (and maybe to come back to in five years!)

Ah, my form, how we’ve changed over the last five years. You, growing up (changing beyond recognition in some cases), losing the squeeky voices (well, most of you…) and going off into the big bad world (or sixth form). Me, with a few more grey hairs, two kids and perhaps a few better ideas about how to be a form tutor (although no better organised)

Thanks for putting up with the crazier ideas (“right, now everyone’s going to have a job….”), being upended from our nice South Block room to the computer room and finally the cookery room, and for my general lack of organisation (“I did have some letters for you… er… “). I’m not going to start naming people or events, because I’d leave someone or something out and I don’t want to risk that, but whatever you go on to next, good luck, stay in touch*, and if you ever find yourself in the teaching profession, I hope your first form are as great as you lot were.

All the best,

Mr S

* Although not in a stalker type way, like some of you did to that poor student teacher we had last year!

*I shudder a bit when I type that, but can’t think of anything better at the moment
